（ちょっと古いエントリーです。ただしアメリカ第４７代大統領D.トランプの欠陥を語ります。）
これは、ウィンストン・チャーチルの言葉である。力強く、美しい言葉と言っても良い。強固な意志の力によってナチス・ドイツを倒し、イギリスを勝利に導いたイギリス首相の言葉である。
振り返って現在のUSA大統領候補の２人、ジョー・バイデン、ドナルド・トランプを見ると、とても当てはまる。バイデンの行動は「反応」に過ぎない。大学生がイスラエルへの武器供与に反対すれば、供与はしないと言うし、でもユダヤロビーが怖くなって結局供与した。黒人が支持しないと言えば、黒人の大学に出向いて黒人の機嫌を取る。などなど、こんな行動ばかりだ。バイデンは「人を恐れている。」（上の記述は、バイデンが大統領選を撤退する前のもの。）
トランプにしても、MAGAというスローガンは具体性に乏しく、雰囲気だけを演出する言葉であるし、移民問題、環境問題にしても、チャーチルのような強固な決断の跡は認められず、条件反射的で、彼も突き動かしているのは恐怖である。セオドア・ルーズベルトのように、５０年先を見て施策する姿勢は微塵もない。
今のUSA,そして世界は、こんな２人の大統領候補しかいなくて、不幸である。

These are Winston Churchill's words. They are powerful and beautiful words. They are the words of the British Prime Minister who defeated Nazi Germany and led Britain to victory with the power of strong will.
Looking back at the two current US presidential candidates, Joe Biden and Donald Trump, this is very applicable. Biden's actions are nothing more than "reactions." If college students say they are against providing weapons to Israel, he says he will not offer them, but he provided them because he was afraid of the Jewish lobby. If black people say they do not support him, he goes to black universities to please black people. And so on. Biden is "afraid of people."
(The above statement was written before Biden withdrew from the presidential race.)
Even with Trump, the slogan MAGA lacks concreteness and is a word that only creates an atmosphere. Even with immigration and environmental issues, there is no trace of Churchill's strong determination; it is a conditioned reflex, and he is also driven by fear. There is not even a trace of the attitude of planning policies with a 50-year perspective like Theodore Roosevelt.
Unfortunately, the USA and the world have only two presidential candidates like these.
