彼は日本でもっとも匠な紙漉き職人。
東大寺に納経する書画の紙を漉く。
１０００年持つ紙ー鳥の子紙だ。
私はあるデパートの企画で彼を知り、
岡山県倉敷市にある彼の工房を訪ねた。
私の様子を見て「この男なら良いかな」と思われたか
彼は分厚い著作を私にくれた。
私の紙研究の参考になったのは言うまでもない。
彼はダム建設のためなんの補償もなく
川の下流に移転したが
「水質が同じなので助かった」と言っていた♡
彼はキャリアが許せば工学部長が相応しかった。

The Indomitable Craftsman
Toudaiji
He is the most skilled paper craftsman in Japan.
He makes paper for the calligraphy and paintings to be donated to Todaiji Temple.
His paper lasts 1000 years - Torinoko paper.
I met him through a department store project,
and visited his workshop in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture.
Perhaps he thought "This guy might be good" after seeing me,
and he gave me his thick book.
Needless to say, it was a reference for my paper research.
He moved downstream without any compensation
for the construction of a dam,
but he said, "It's a relief because the water quality is the same."💛
If his career had allowed, he would have been the dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
