私はそれまで家庭で勉強をしたことがなかった
だがほどほどには成績が良かった。
あるとき、担任の正田照子女史が
「予習・復習は大切よ」と生徒に語り掛けた。
いくつも効用があり、やらない手はない、と私は思った。
実践したところ、以後大学に行くまで
成績学校トップを常に維持できた。
正田照子先生のおかげだ。
のちに友人の結婚式で彼女を見掛け
挨拶に伺ったら、毅然とした態度で応対された。
いかにもジェントルマン女性だった。

I had never studied at home before,
but my grades were pretty good.
One day, my homeroom teacher, Ms. Teruko Shoda,
said to the students, "Preparation and review are important."
I thought there were many benefits to doing so and there was no reason not to do it.
I put it into practice, and from then on,
I was able to maintain the top grades in my school until I went to university.
I owe it all to Ms. Teruko Shoda.
Later, I saw her at a friend's wedding,
and when I went to say hello, she greeted me with a firm attitude.
She was a real gentlemanly woman.
