My haiku has a breakdown in the sense of community (Essay)
Spurge in the spring
It's been over 30 years since I started writing haiku. It was a bit unusual, but I wrote it normally. However, I think it changed after I started posting English translations of haiku on Tumblr. Until then, I used to write about general topics, but I've started to unify my writing with a basic theme of plants, and I've started to use all my knowledge about plants. Here's one recent work:

This plant is a spurge, and it shows that the sense of community, a kind of sense of belonging, that traditional Japanese haiku has has collapsed. Well, originally, my haiku almost ignored the rules other than 5-7-5 (sometimes I even ignored 5-7-5), and I also ignored the annoying seasonal words that are the framework for the sense of community. Although the subject matter is plants, so the sense of season naturally arises.
What kind of world will await us after the collapse of the sense of community? My haiku is different from traditional haiku. But I think I may have succeeded in conveying my way of thinking. Even if the sense of community collapses, the way we see and think is the same.

私の俳句はコミュニティ意識が崩壊している（エッセイ）
私が俳句を初めて３０年を超える。少々変わった俳句だったが普通に句作をしていた。しかしタンブラーに英訳した俳句を投稿するようになってから変質したように思う。それまでは諸事一般を題材にしていたが、主として植物をテーマにするという基本線で統一し、植物に関する知識を総動員するようになったのだ。最近の作品としてこんなのがある。

この植物はトウダイグサだが、これは日本伝統の俳句が持っているコミュニティ意識、一種の帰属意識が崩壊していることが解る。まあ、もともと私の俳句は５・７・５以外のルールをほとんど無視し（５・７・５さえ無視することもあったが）、コミュニティ意識の枠である煩わしい季語も無視している。植物が題材なので季節感は自然に生まれるとは言え。
コミュニティ意識が崩壊した後には、どんな世界が待っているのだろう。私の俳句は伝統的な俳句とは異なっている。でも私の物の見方を伝えるということには成功しているかも知れない。コミュニティ意識が崩壊しても、物を見て考えることは同じだから。
