格安航空機（LCC）は要らない（エッセイ）
２０２４年、２０２５年を跨いで、韓国で格安航空機（LCC）による重大事故が２件続けて起きた。同じ国でこれだけ近接して事故が起こるというのも稀だが、どちらもLCCが関与していることが重要である。LCCの運航が増えたのは、航空会社と乗客のニーズが一致するからである。会社は多くの乗客を確保できるし、乗客も安い旅行ができるのだから。
だが、従来は比較的に富裕層が利用していた旅客機を、中間層、貧困層も利用できるようになるため、世界の常識を弁えない田舎者が大挙世界の観光地に押しかけることになり、マナーの悪い客によって観光地が荒らされる。オーバーツーリズムである。さらには目的の国で犯罪を犯しては母国に逃げ帰る犯罪者も現れる始末だ（ヒットアンドアウェー）。これらの傾向は、日本を訪れる中国人に甚だしい。
私はLCCは要らないと考える。旅行は、それを活用できる、具眼の士のみが実行できるものであるべきだ。昔の日本では、国に認められた者だけが海外旅行に行けたのだ。犯罪者も旅行できるなんて、狂気の沙汰だ。

We don't need low-cost carriers (LCCs) (Essay)
Two serious accidents involving low-cost carriers (LCCs) occurred in Korea in 2024 and 2025. It is rare for accidents to occur so close together in the same country, but it is important that both involved LCCs. The increase in LCC operations is due to the matching of the needs of airlines and passengers. The airlines can secure many passengers, and the passengers can travel cheaply.
However, passenger planes, which were previously used by the relatively wealthy, are now available to the middle and poor classes, so country folk who do not understand global common sense will flock to tourist destinations around the world and tourist destinations will be ruined by ill-mannered customers. This is overtourism. Furthermore, some criminals commit crimes in their destination countries and then flee back to their home countries (hit and run). These trends are severe for Chinese people visiting Japan.
I don't think we need LCCs. Travel should be something that only those with a keen eye who can take advantage of it can do. In the old days in Japan, only those who were recognized by the country could travel abroad. It's insane that even criminals can travel.
