Optional separate surnames for married couples, common names, family registry system (Essay)
Mitsunari Okamoto(Mitsunari Chin) Komeito Diet member of Chinese origin
In recent years, the legal profession in Japan has been abnormal. When a "foreigner who committed a crime" A is found, lawyers overly defend him, citing human rights, and call his being a suspect discrimination. The prosecutor drops the charges against A, and the judge finds A not guilty. Such cases are rapidly increasing.
These deteriorations in the legal profession are, of course, due to the decline of the Japanese legal profession, but the main cause is that the Democratic Party (now the Constitutional Democratic Party), which held power only once in Japan, abolished the nationality clause in the bar exam. Non-Japanese foreigners become legal professionals and take actions that favor foreigners.
A hot political issue in Japan right now is the "optional separate surnames for married couples." This is said to be a long-held wish of women who do not want to change their maiden names, but only 16% of the public wants this. However, left-wing parties and the left wing of the Liberal Democratic Party are eager to pass this bill.
Because... it seems that these forces, who seek the convenience of foreigners, intend to firmly fix nicknames as they are, undermine and destroy the family registry system, and allow foreigners to act as they please. Because there is no family registry, it is impossible to track who a person is. It is a scheme to allow the recklessness of people who are unknown in Japan. The deterioration of the legal profession was a precursor to this.
